Minutes of the Meeting of the Print Circle and AGM
4 April 2006, at the Workshop Arts Centre, Willoughby

The meeting opened at 4.00 pm.

Apologies: Christina Cordero, Edith Cowlishaw, Barbara Davidson

Present:  Prue Crabbe, Joanne Gwatkin-Williams, Vera Taylor, Helen Best, Janette Hanrahan, Chebi Badham, Olwen Cheung, Karin Oom, Deborah Wilkinson, Jean Birrell, Ann Bewah Wu, Mieke Cohen, Tanya Crothers.

Minutes of the previous AGM were accepted as read, proposed by Janette Hanrahan and seconded by Karin Oom.

President’s Report. The President reported that the main event of the year was the “Pressed on Paper” exhibition held in the Botanic Gardens in Spring which was an ideal venue for many. Sales were good and Friends of the Gardens were pleased with the donation as well as the good feedback from their members.

Preparations for the exhibition at Mosman Gallery in June 07 continued. A contract was signed and Katrina Cashman hosted Christmas drinks and a meeting at the Gallery, which was both useful and enjoyable. “Polarities in Print” was chosen for the title and plans were made for a collaborative section to be a part of the exhibition.

All in all a successful year and thank you to everyone for their contributions to what has been very much a team effort.

Secretary’s Report. The Secretary had nothing of any substance to add to the President’s comments.

Treasurer’s Report. The Treasurer was, regrettably, absent from the meeting but her report is attached.

Nomination of Committee and Election of Officers. All three current office holders agreed to stand again and were re-elected as follows:

Jean Birrell was nominated for President by Helen Best, seconded by Prue Crabbe.

Joanne Gwatkin-Williams was nominated for Secretary by Janette Hanrahan and seconded by Karin Oom.

Ingrid Hawke was nominated for Treasurer by Olwen Cheung and seconded by Ann Bewah Wu.

Other business:

  • Correspondence
  • Janet Milton has decided to resign. She thanks the Print Circle for the past years and wishes good luck to us all for the future. She also expressed a wish that her place be taken by a younger person. It was proposed by Helen Best that she become a life member, this was seconded by Prue Crabbe.
  • We have received letters from to printmakers expressing an interest in becoming members of the Print Circle. See below.
  • Katrina Cashman has had a boy called Maxwell.

New Members.

  • (Name withheld) and (name withheld) have written to the President and Secretary asking to be allowed to apply for membership of the Print Circle. The Secretary will write to them and to (name withheld), a previously unsuccessful applicant, inviting them to submit their work to the next meeting for viewing. They will be asked to submit 6 representative pieces only along with a short biography. Please see attached notes on ‘VOTING’ procedures.*

Regional Galleries.

  • Joanne will be writing again to various galleries, local and regional and would like any realistic suggestions that anyone may have regarding galleries that should be approached. Suggestions so far are Danks, Gosford, Hazlehurst, Wagga and UTS. Ann said that she would approach the latter on our behalf. A CD of images will be sent with each letter so that it is important that as many people send digital images to Joanne as soon as possible. Please see attached for ‘DIGITAL IMAGE SIZE RECOMMENDATIONS’.

Website.

  • Chebi Badham suggested that the Print Circle should have its own website and brought some information along that she had researched regarding costs. This was proposed by Chebi and seconded by Deborah Wilkinson. Joanne agreed to look into this further and to report back at the next meeting.

The meeting closed at 5.00 pm.

Next meeting for all members: Wednesday, 28 June 2005, 4.00 pm, Workshop Arts Centre. Next meeting for Collaborative participants, 19 June 2006 at 1.00pm, Mosman Gallery
