This was not a full meeting, only a brief one chiefly called to decide on a theme with which to approach regional galleries. The usual formalities were therefore dispensed with.

Advertising for the Mosman Exhibition in 2007.

  • Discussion took place as to whether or not to take an advertisement and therefore obtain editorial space in the Arts Craft International magazine. This is a pretty expensive place to advertise and there was much debate over whether it really reached the right audience. A vote was taken and all but one agreed that we should not take an ad out in this paper.
  • We will be looking into the possibility of advertising in “Art Collector”, “Art Almanac”, “Look” and “Imprint”, though it was felt that the latter was probably too limited in its audience.

Subject/Title for an Exhibition to Tour the Regional Galleries in 2008.

Some ‘brain-storming’ took place over subject matter and title before a list was drawn up and voted on. The list was as follows:

Back to nature; Convergence; Of the Land; Water music/Water rhythms; Reflections in Glass; Reflections; Windows, Doors; Through the Wind/Door; View; Room with a View; In Darkness or Light; Tonal Variations; Tidal Variations; Our Daily Bread; Through a Glass Darkly; Enigma Variations; Through the Looking Glass; Timepiece; Shades of Tone; Memories; Different Views; Points of View; View Point; Timely Textures; The Unbearable Lightness of Seeing; Texture of the Land; Water Rhythms; Between the Sheets; Watermarks. “Of the Land” and “Room with a View” soon emerged as the favourite titles, with “Of the Land” finally being selected as the title to go forward with. Each artist will agree to provide 3 works on that theme.

Deborah Wilkinson agreed to write the curatorial thesis with some intellectual development of that title including what imperative led to its choice.

Our Christmas gathering will be on 25 November, at 12.30 at the S H Ervin cafe. Just a lunch, not a meeting.

The meeting closed at 11.30 am
